Developing Changes for a Healthier Future
OGH offers a LEARN program for participants wanting to develop healthy lifestyle habits.
L - Lifestyle
E - Exercise
A - Attitudes
R - Relationships
N - Nutrition
This program is not an on-again-off-again diet but helps develop permanent lifestyle changes for healthier individuals. Participants meet once a week for 12 weeks. Sessions begin in February and again in September.
Instructors are OGH's Deb Schmit, RN and Patty Kreinert, LPN. In past classes, they have noted improvements in health and decreased risk of heart problems, diabetes, hypertension and poor bone density. Participants looked better and improvement was noted in their attitudes, motivation, and self-confidence.
"LEARN is not just a 12-week program, but a life-long program that can add years to your life and quality to your years" noted one participant.
A maintenance program is also available for those who have completed the initial LEARN program.
For more details and a starting date of the next LEARN program, call the hospital at (402)748-3393.
